How the Calculator Works

The calculator uses basic discount formulas to determine missing values:

• Price After Discount = Price Before Discount − Savings
• Savings = Price Before Discount × (Discount % ÷ 100) (if percentage) OR = Discount Amount
• Discount % = (Savings ÷ Price Before Discount) × 100

How Do You Calculate Price and Savings With a Discount?

If Discount in %:
Price After = Price Before × (1 - Discount/100)
Savings     = Price Before × (Discount/100)

If Discount in $:
Price After = Price Before - Discount
Savings     = Discount

Example 1:

• Price Before = $100, Discount = 20%
• Price After = $100 × (1 - 20/100) = $80
• Savings = $100 × 20/100 = $20

Example 2:

• Price Before = $100, Discount = $15
• Price After = $100 - $15 = $85
• Savings = $15
