Start Date

Calculate the Difference Between Two Dates

Enter a start date and an end date to see:

  • Years, months, and days
  • Total calendar days
  • Total weeks and remaining days
  • Weekend days
  • Business days
  • Holidays

You may also choose Include the end date if the range should count both the start and end date.

Example 1: Date Difference

Example: Between Apr 18, 2024 and Jun 24, 2026, how many days are there?

If the calculator is set to count the full date range, it will show:

  • Weekend Days: total Saturdays and Sundays in the range
  • Business Days: weekdays excluding selected holidays
  • Holidays: holidays that fall within the selected date range

This is useful for payroll, project planning, deadlines, attendance tracking, and date audits.

Example Output:
  • Difference: 2 years, 2 months, 6 days
  • Total Calendar Days: 798
  • Weekend Days: 228
  • Business Days: 546
  • Holidays: 24, depends on selected holiday settings

Calculate a Date by Adding or Subtracting Time

Enter a start date, choose Add or Subtract, and then enter years, months, weeks, or days.

You can also enable Based on Business Days to skip weekends and, optionally, holidays.

Example 2: Add or Subtract Days

Example: If you start on Nov 1, 2025 and add 159 days, what date is it?

If Business Days is not selected, the calculator counts calendar days. If Business Days is selected, it counts only valid workdays.

This means the result may be different depending on whether weekends and holidays are excluded.

Example Output:
  • Calendar days: Apr 9, 2026, Thursday
  • Business Days: Jun 24, 2026, Wednesday

If the result lands on a business day, the output will also identify it as a valid workday.

Holiday and Business Day Rules

By default, weekends are excluded from business day counts. You can also exclude selected U.S. federal holidays and custom holidays.

  • Weekend days are Saturday and Sunday.
  • Business days are weekdays that are not marked as holidays.
  • Some holidays may be observed on a different day if they fall on a weekend.
  • You may add custom holidays for specific dates or recurring yearly dates.
